Note: These stories are written as if the game had been played today. That means there will be a recap including some of the highlights and stats.
Behind the impressive arm of Jameis Winston Florida State rolled over the number-16 seed Louisiana-Lafayette 62-13. The Seminoles had their way from the get go and the game was already out of reach midway through the first quarter.

The Florida State offensive line gave Winston all day to throw and his stats showed the time he had to work. Winston Completed and astounding 32-for-35 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Seminoles into the second round of the NCAA football tournament.
Florida State scored on the first play from scrimmage on an 80-yard completion from Winston to Kelvin Benjamin and never looked back. After a Ragin’ Cajuns three-and-out, Winston was back to work. This time he found Rashad Greene streaking down the sideline for a 57-yard touchdown. The play couldn’t have been easier for the dynamic Seminoles as no defender was within eight yards of Greene when he made the grab.
The Ragin’ Cajuns couldn’t get anything going on offense the entire first half and gave FSU great field position on numerous occasions. Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Terrance Broadway was intercepted three times in the first half as Florida State made a resounding statement in regards to their number-1 seed by taking a 56-0 lead into halftime.
With backups on the field for most of the final two quarters of the game the Seminoles could only manage two field goals, but still walked away with a very impressive win over the Sun Belt Champs.
Other than Winston, running back Devonta Freeman was the star of the game. Freeman scored three touchdowns on the ground while registering 157 yards on just 11 carries. He also had three receptions for 27 yards and another score.
The Seminoles will next face the winner of the South Carolina – Stanford match up in the Elite Eight.
