The media should not drive the news, the news should drive the media.
Speculation that University of Texas head football coach Mack Brown is going to step down is not news, nor is the fact that Texas might Want to talk to Nick Saban if Mack Brown does leave.
Until this happens, it’s not news. We don’t have the media to speculate what might happen, we have the media to tell us what actually happened.
I don’t care how many sources you have unless one of them is Mack Brown. He’s the only one who can actually tell you he’s stepping down.
If that is the case report it when it happens. It just doesn’t make any sense to me how this became a form of journalism.
For some reason most of these journalists feel like that if they can break stories breaking news that they can become famous somehow.
Maybe it’s just me, but that’s not the point of being a journalist
What I want from them is accurate reporting, Insightful interviews and top-notch research.
Your speculation means nothing to me unless it happens.
Most of the time I feel like we have the media out there trying to create stories just so there’s something to talk about. That isn’t necessary, nor is it very ethical.
I feel like this is the same thing we deal with the Heisman vote.
I feel like voters rely on these journalists and talking heads to tell them who deserves the Heisman Trophy, when in fact all they need to do is watch games and figure it out.
After watching a ridiculous amount of college football this year I think that either Bryce Petty or Marcus Mariota was the one who should win the Heisman trophy, but thanks to a couple of influential talking heads, someone who isn’t deserving is going to win it because people rely on their word.
This has just gotta stop. Do the research, watch the games and figure it out for yourself. Don’t let anybody else make up your mind for you. That’s why you’ve been blessed with a brain and the ability to make your own decisions. If that is just too much to ask, then do the right thing and relinquish your vote.
