As expected, BYU had little trouble with the Prairie View, as they nearly doubled the Panthers 100-52 on Tuesday night. The Cougars were led by Kyle Collinsworth and Tyler Haws who scored a combined 38 points on 14-of-23 shooting.
Haws came out on fire making his first five field goal attempts on his way to 13 points before the first media timeout. Three of his first five shots were from three-point range as BYU raced out to an early lead that they would never relinquish.
Although Haws only scored six points the rest of the way, he had plenty of help.
Collinsworth played a team high 34 minutes and ended the night with 19 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.
Two other Cougars scored in double figures with Eric Mika registering 15 points and six boards while Anson Winder didn’t miss a shot on his way to 11 points off the bench.
Nate Austin led BYU With 11 rebounds to go along with eight points and four steals.
Matt Carlino finished the night with a team high seven assists as well as seven points and four steals.
Prairie View A&M was led by Hersey Robinson who finished the night with 12 points and four rebounds, but the Panthers got just 12 points from the other four starters.
BYU will be back on the floor on Saturday as they travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes.
