In case you missed it, according to Yahoo! Sports the Sacramento Kings and the Toronto Raptors made a blockbuster deal on Sunday.
The Raptors traded Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray to the Kings for Greivis Vasquez, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes.
For those of you scoring at home, that means the Kings moved two guards and got none back in return.
That means there should be minutes available for Jimmer Fredette as a backup point and even some minutes at the two now that Salmons and Vasquez are gone.
Either that or Sacramento has completely given up on Jimmer and rookie second round pick Ray McCallum will be the backup point guard going forward.
My hope is that Sacramento gives Jimmer first shot to earn some minutes. I don’t want him on the Kings past this year, but my hope is that he can get some time to showcase his skills. That way maybe he will earn a decent free agent contract when this year is over.
The other option that I would love to see is for the Kings to move Fredette to get a backup. That way he can get a fresh start on a team that would better know how to use him.
