It has been a busy week for Jimmer Fredette and the Shanghai Sharks since returning from a two-week break for the World Cup qualifying window. The Sharks have played three games in five days, and are in the middle of a heated playoff race that has them sitting in 13th place in a league where the top 12 teams move on to the postseason.

Here is a recap of all of the games that Fredette has played since returning from the extended break.

Game 38

Fredette shot the lights out from distance, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Sharks got dismantled by the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, 131-101.

In the 30-point loss, the former BYU star managed a team-high 34 points on the strength of 5-for-10 shooting from beyond the arc and a perfect 9-for-9 from the foul line. He added three rebounds and a steal in 37 minutes of work.

With the loss, the Sharks dropped to 20-21 and a game back for the final playoff spot.

Game 39

While the game was much closer, the result for the Sharks was the same as they dropped a 110-104 decision to the Nanjing Tongxi Monkey Kings on Sunday.

Fredette had another impressive shooting performance from the outside in the loss, connecting on 7-of-14 from beyond the arc while finishing with a team-best 36 points. He also chipped in with eight assists, three rebounds, and two steals, but the Sharks couldn’t slow down former Oregon guard, Joe Young, who managed 39 points and 10 assists.

Game 40

The Sharks finally found their footing with a return to the home floor and came away with the much-needed 114-105 win over the Guangzhou Long Lions on Tuesday.

Despite an off shooting night in the heated contest, Fredette delivered a massive double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds (two on the offensive end), to go along with a team-high seven assists in 44 minutes on the floor.

With the win, the Sharks snapped a three-game losing streak and moved to within a half-game of the Jiangsu Dragons for the final playoff spot with just three games to play. Three other teams are also within striking distance, sitting just one game ahead of the Sharks with identical 22-21 records.

Through 40 games, Fredette is second in the CBA in scoring, averaging 37.3 points a night on 53 percent shooting from inside the arc, 42 percent from 3-point land and 92 percent from the free-throw line. He also chips in with 5.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.7 steals in 40.3 minutes on the court.

Up next

Fredette and the Sharks will be back on the floor on Thursday with a massive home matchup against the 31-12 Shenzhen Leopards.

The Leopards are led by the dynamic guard tandem of Kenny Boynton and Dwight Buycks. Boynton has been an efficient scoring weapon all season long, averaging 25.2 points a night while adding 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

As for Buycks, he has put up some very solid numbers since replacing an injured Jared Sullinger in the lineup. through 28 games, he is putting up 20.4 points to go along with 5.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 33.1 minutes.

      1. It also appears that they are off on Jimmer’s stats too. I try to use websites from the country a guy is playing in. They are generally the most accurate.

  2. Jimmer, should be doing this in the NBA but the politics and nonsense of that league is a joke!!! Every situation he was in the NBA was bad for him!! ie DeMarcus Cousin and that mess. Dysfunctional Kings organization, The Pelicans and him taking time away from the coaches god child Austin Rivers ,which Jimmer was outplaying and producing. So Monty William’s with input from daddy Mo Rivers,Jimmer had no chance there!! Then the Knick mess with pissed off Carmelo Anthony and Puppet coach Kurt Rambis. Jimmer was never going to get a fair chance there as long as Carmelo Anthony was running that show and Rambis did what he wanted him to do!! Carmelo hated it when Linsanity was happening so no Jimmermania going to show him up and maybe get them to the playoffs something Marshmallow couldn’t do. Jimmer is playing basketball and getting paid for it with a smile on his face,Chinese are playing basketball for love of the game like Jimmer. He made it to the NBA mission accomplished there but the bias league made sure he wasn’t going to be a star.

      1. Not really sure he would ever be happy with the stuff that goes on in the NBA. 10 day contracts, changing his game from a point guard to a shooting guard. He needs the ball in his hands like Kyrie Irving or even Isaiah Thomas when at the Celtics. But NBA teams won’t let him do that!!! Ainge should dump unhappy Kyrie Irving for a good young guard and bring Jimmer in as insurance.
