A ton has happened in the international basketball world for our former Cougars since our last update. Not only has Jimmer Fredette dropped consecutive 40-point games, but Frank Bartley IV, Brandon Davies, Elijah Bryant, Matt Carlino and Kyle Collinsworth have all delivered strong performances for their respective teams.
Here is a look at how the former BYU basketball players have done in their most recent games.
Frank Bartley IV had career nights in back-to-back games as the Saint John Riptide won their first two games of the NBL season. In a 115-111 win over the Sudbury Five, he registered a team-high 24 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in 46 minutes.
Two nights later, Bartley was even better as he recorded a game-high 27 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 4-for-5 from the foul line. He added four rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal in 34 minutes.
On the season, Bartley is 15th in the league in scoring, averaging 15 points a night to go along with 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 28.4 minutes.
Brandon Davies followed up a great effort in EuroLeague with another strong showing in LKL play as Zalgiris knocked off Vilius Rytas, 95-86. In the nine-point win, he managed 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 from the foul line. He added a team-best six rebounds (three on the offensive end), an assist and a steal in 22:34 on the floor.
Through 13 Lithuanian League games, Davies is 10th in scoring, averaging 12.5 points a game on 59.3 percent shooting with 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals in 18 minutes.
Elijah Bryant had another solid effort as the Hapoel Eilat Sharks won their sixth game in a row on Monday, knocking off Maccabi Ashdod 85-68. In the win, he totaled 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field and 2-for-3 from the charity stripe. He also contributed four rebounds, a steal, an assist and a block in 29 minutes.
Through nine Winner League games, Bryant is third in scoring, averaging 20.7 points a contest on 60.2 percent shooting with 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals in 34.3 minutes.
Matt Carlino delivered an MVP performance on Friday as Roanne crushed Vichy-Clermont 94-68 to improve to 7-1 on the season. In the win, he recorded 18 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field, including 4-for-6 from distance and 2-for-2 at the line. He added six rebounds, five assists and two steals in 24 minutes off the bench.
On the season, Carlino is fifth in France’s Pro B in scoring with 16.5 points a game on the strength of 47.1 percent shooting from 3-point land. He also chips in with 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 21.9 minutes.
As for fellow Pro B player, Charles Abouo, he is still nursing an ankle injury that has sidelined him for the last couple of weeks. In five games, he is averaging 10.4 points on 51.4 percent shooting with 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 23.4 minutes.
Kyle Collinsworth stuffed the stat sheet again as the Raptors 905 outlasted Capital City 110-103. In the seven-point win, he registered 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field and 1-for-2 from the foul line. He also finished with seven rebounds (a team-high three on the offensive end), a game-best six assists and a steal in 31 minutes.
Through 10 games, Collinsworth is averaging 10.3 points on 48.3 percent shooting to go along with 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 31.1 minutes for the top team in the G-League.
Tyler Haws had a tough shooting night on Saturday as Levitec Huesca fell to Liberbank Oviedo 73-58. In the loss, he managed 13 points on 5-for-15 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 at the line. He added three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 31 minutes.
On the season, Haws is fifth in the LEB Gold in scoring with 15.8 points a game on 45. percent shooting from the field, and 92.9 percent at the foul line. He also contributes 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29:24.
Eric Mika had a promising showing on Sunday in a 73-70 loss to Pistoia Basket in Italian League play. In the loss, he registered nine points on 50 percent shooting from the field to go along with two boards and an assist in 20 minutes.
Through nine games, Mika is averaging 5.8 points on 47.2 percent shooting with 2.6 rebounds in 13.6 minutes a game.
