Jimmer Fredette’s trainer for the last three years, Nick Graham, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a short video while talking about what it takes to be great.

“There’s no better person to exemplify what greatness is, the mindset of greatness,” said Graham of the BYU legend.

He then tells a story of Fredette’s post workout shooting drills and how well Jimmer did the first time as he connected on 81 of 100 shots.

Graham went on to break down what sets Fredette apart from many others.

“The thing that made Jimmer special wasn’t the fact that he made 81 threes, it was the next day when he showed up,” Graham explained. “Yesterday’s greatness became the next day’s expectations.”

That is a powerful lesson for us to learn or at least be reminded of. Just because we have accomplished impressive things doesn’t mean that is all we have in us. If we continue to push, the great things we did today could lead to even better things tomorrow.

Fredette is proof of that fact.

He had every opportunity to come home after his first season in China – a year where he took home the CBA International MVP – and take a break. But he didn’t do that. He did what it took to get even better.

And that work paid off.

Fredette averaged more points in the regular season than a year ago, while shooting a better percentage from the 3-point land and the foul line. He also averaged more assists and more steals than his MVP season.

Brandon Davies has one of his best all-around showings of the EuroLeague season on Tuesday as Zalgiris Kaunas knocked off Olimpia Milan, 77-65.

The former BYU big man totaled 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field and 3-for-4 from the foul line. He also chipped in with four rebounds, three steals and two assists in 19:01 of action on the floor at Zalgiris moved into a four-way tie for fourth place at 16-11.

It was the 10th time Davies has scored in double figures in EuroLeague play, including the fourth time in the last six games.

Through 27 games, he is averaging 8.0 points on 57.7 percent shooting from the floor and an astounding 87.9 percent from the free-throw line. He also contributes 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15:41.

L.J. Rose had his best performance of the season by far on Wednesday night as the Salt Lake City Stars fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 119-105.

He just missed out on the first double-double of his pro career while scoring in double figures for the first time as he totaled 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field, including a blistering 4-for-6 from 3-point range and 1-for-1 from the foul line. The former Cougar lead-guard added a game-high tying nine assists and collected two rebounds in 25 minutes of work.

Through 16 games, Rose is averaging 2.3 points on 41.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc with 1.9 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 10 minutes a night.
